Markhor Hunting is considered one of the greatest and most expensive mountain hunting experiences in the world! Home to five subspecies of this majestic animal, It's no surprise that Markhor is the national animal of Pakistan: Astor or Astore markhor (Capra falconeri falconeri), Bukharan markhor (Capra falconeri heptneri), Kabul markhor (Capra falconeri megaceros), Kashmir markhor (Capra falconeri cashmiriensis) and Suleiman markhor (Capra falconeri jerdoni) can all be found in the majestic mountains of Pakistan (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan). How to get there: Hunting areas and travel itineraries vary depending on the species of Markhor you desire to hunt. Kashmir Markhor for example, live in the Northwest territories of Pakistan, etc.

Hunting Season: Markhor hunting seasons starts in November and ends in mid-April, with the rut being in December.

Species: Astor or Astore markhor (Capra falconeri falconeri), Bukharan markhor (Capra falconeri heptneri), Kabul markhor (Capra falconeri megaceros), Suleiman markhor (Capra falconeri jerdoni) and Kashmir markhor (Capra falconeri cashmiriensis), pictured below.

Accommodations and food: Normally, you will be staying in either good hotel accommodations cosest to eht hunting areas, or one of the several well-equpped hunting camps/guest houses in the villages (furniture, kitchen, generator and trophy care facilities are all available).

Rates and Dates:

Every year, only four permits for each species of Markhor are sold out to licensed outfitters in Pakistan. Those permits are sold in in open auctions and the permits are given to the highest bidders. So all our Markhor hunting packages will be confirmed only after procuring permits from such auctions. Therefore our Markhor hunting prices are given upon request and will be tentative until the permits are obtained.

Package Details:

Living in the settlements of the Astor mountains, from which its name was derived, the Astor Markhor can only be found in Pakistan! Among all Markhor subspecies, the Astor markhor might be the least popular, but certainly not the easiest to hunt! Just like most mountain hunting experiences, a hunter must be in Sheep Shape to hunt this animal.

Kashmir Markhor

Package Details:

Even though rare, and very few get the chance or have the resources to hunt Kashmir Markhor, this is certainly one of the most famous Capra species available in Pakistan. Just like any Markhor hunt, It's nowhere near cheap to hunt this animal, mainly because very few permits are issued every year, to insure conservation through sustainable hunting!
