Location: Coutada 9, Mozambique
Hunting terrain: You will be hunting in a 1,000,000 acres block of unfenced savanna woodland, tambooti forests and seasonal rivers with thick riverine vegetation and spectacular granite outcrops
Hunting Season: Hunting in Mozambique generally takes place from July to November with prime hunting dates being from mid August until the end of October.
Species: While Mozambique is famous for leopard, lion, sable, nyala and big elephants, a wide variety of African plains game and dangerous game species can be hunted, including unique species such as Lichtenstein's Hartebeest, Red Duiker, Oribi and Livingstone's Sunni that are not found in neighbouring hunting destinations such as South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Accommodation: You will be staying in one of three camps in the Nhacainga Conservancy. The first camp is in the Coutada 9 concession and consists of two tents and two deluxe chalets, each with its own private bathroom. This camp has a spectacular dining room under thatch with stunning views. The other camps are situated in Nhangona and Pompue Rivers and consist of East African style safari tents with all the modern amenities. Fly camps are erected for clients who wish to have a more rustic experience or those who need to hunt the blocks far from the main lodges.
How to get there: The best way to reach the camp is to book one of many daily flights from Johannesburg to Tete, Mozambique through SA Airlink. At Tete you will be met by a Huntourage representative who will assist you with customs clearance. The drive from Tete to the hunting area is four (4) hours.
Typical itinerary:
Arrival: You will be picked up at the airport in Tete upon your arrival and transferred to the hunting area (3 to 4 hours drive). Depending on the time of arrival, you will either enjoy a relaxed African style evening or begin your hunting adventure.
A typical hunting day: starts with an early wake up call. After a delicious breakfast, you will be accompanied with a professional hunter where you will hunt your desired trophies until lunchtime. Following your meal, you will resume hunting until dark. Later on, you will return to camp for dinner where you can share your amazing hunting stories with your fellow hunters.
Departure: You will complete your paperwork and billing information for your trophies and taxidermy. After a farewell African breakfast, brunch or dinner you will ride to the airport in Tete to catch your return flight.
